The holiday season is a perfect time to send cards to friends and loved ones near and far. I much prefer sending homemade cards as opposed to the store-bought alternative. This year, I was looking for something a little different, so I decided to play around with marbling paper to use as an accent on my cards.
- Barbasol Shaving Cream (don’t use a gel!)
- A disposable tray
- Stampin’ Up ink (food coloring works just as well!)
- Paper towel
- A device with a straight edge (to use for scraping)
- A stick to to use for stirring
Step 1: Fill half the tray with shaving cream, about one inch thick.
Step 2: Drop your desired amount of ink or food coloring into the shaving cream.
Step 3: Swirl the shaving cream with your stirring device. The more you stir, the more mixed the colors become.
Step 4: Place the paper face down on the shaving cream and apply light pressure, making sure the entire surface of the paper is in contact with the shaving cream.
Step 5: Carefully pull the paper out of the shaving cream and set on a paper towel. Allow the paper to sit for about a minute. Using your flat edge, scrape the shaving cream off of your paper.
Step 6: Let the marbled paper sit for about an hour to ensure that it is dry!
Step 7: Use your handmade marbled paper as you desire in your holiday cards!
